Chapter 688 - 210: Post-Movie Tea Party (Part 2)
Yu Haoming wore optical camouflage earrings, altering the contours of his face slightly. People who didn’t know him well wouldn’t recognize who he was.But Su Xiaocai recognized him at a glance, "Weren’t you vowing to stay cooped up at the company?"
Yu Haoming also recognized this little sister.
"Weren’t you watching in the New World?"
With just one sentence, he lightly exposed Su Xiaocai’s little secret.
The atmosphere got awkward.
Su Xiaocai guiltily glanced at Ji Li, whose silhouette appeared even more poignant in the dim setting.
The "beauty" gave her a sidelong glance, making Su Xiaocai’s heart race, and she immediately tried to pacify him, "I only planned to glance briefly to decide if it’s worth further investing in the film. I didn’t mean to not invite you. You’re my treasure! If this movie is trash, it would ruin my mood and affect our relationship! Next time there’s a film investment, I’ll definitely ask you out first."
She sweet-talked while casually pinching his cheek. If she weren’t so young, one would think she was an old playgirl.
"There’s really no need," Ji Li knew Su Xiaocai was bluntly honest. If he continued, she’d start making things up, and only he would end up angry.
Su Xiaocai shot Yu Haoming a glare.
Yu Haoming pouted, "Even if I didn’t say, Brother Ji would find out sooner or later."
"Sooner or later means it can be delayed or expedited, you big mouth. The mistakes you made, I have to take the blame? How is this being a brother? Knowing that Ji Li is my first love and my white moonlight, how could you destroy my image like this?"
Yu Haoming: ???
Ji Li: ???
No wonder it’s you. What image do you have to speak of!
Ji Li’s attractive eyes and brows were clouded with "darkness." Su Xiaocai called him her first love’s white moonlight. He should be happy, but somehow he wasn’t. He felt an impulse to crush her in his palm.
Taking a deep breath, he held back.
Unable to hold back, Ji Li directly covered her chatterbox mouth, "It’s starting."
The film wasn’t about heroic figures, but about small characters caught in a war against the Insect Man, filled with blood and tears. The main characters are a mecha squad of five people; one sacrifices, three die in battle, and the last one loses both hands waiting for rescue.
The brutality of the war was vividly depicted.
Within it, there was a lot about what to do or not do when the Insect Man came.
There was an introduction of the new shielding instrument, allowing many viewers to know about this thing, which you could buy online and keep at home like a fire extinguisher.
When the massive rescue team arrived, the movie reached its end; two children were seen only from the back as they saluted the rescuers.
It symbolized the new generation inheriting the will of their predecessors to fight against the Insect Man.
Su Xiaocai felt that the film’s portrayal of cruelty in its plot was very mild, and she wasn’t too moved.
Others were different; because the semi-virtual seats made them feel like they were there, they were empathetic, using several tissues.
Yu Haoming had lived in hardship before, so much that even bitter melons tasted sweet, making him hard to become emotional.
Still, watching this movie made his eyes red.
Next to him, one was yawning, the other propping their cheek with a slightly dumbfounded expression, out of it.
"Do you two have no heart?"
Having seen similar real scenes tens of thousands of times, when watching idealized movie scenes, Su Xiaocai could only say, "I have a black heart; not even dogs would eat it."
Ji Li’s answer was different, "I don’t really like watching movies and TV shows. Every time, I see lots of flaws and defects."
All movies receive almost venomous reviews from Ji Li, though fortunately, he’s not bored enough to write reviews.
Yu Haoming sighed, "Indeed, a family doesn’t enter the same house."
"Yes, yes, and you’re one of the family too," Su Xiaocai clicked her tongue at him and walked away.
The two actresses’ performances were decent; in the movie, they abandoned their image to vividly portray the panic and fear of ordinary people.
Their characters were likable; one, for her mecha master friend, despite her panic, didn’t hold back and eventually pulled the disabled mecha master into the shielding device, saving him.
The other hid underground, fiercely snatched back two buns, then turned to sit beside a deceased old woman, pulling up the old woman’s nearly starved granddaughter, giving her half a bun.
They were both ways small characters lived, filled with uncertainty about the future, but she was very resolute. She explained through a few scenes why she was both selfish and selfless.
Selfish for the sake of living. Selflessly pulling up the "granddaughter" was to find a companion.
Understanding human nature, she knew how easy it was to give up during such times, so the "granddaughter" became her mental support; the "granddaughter" needed her, and she couldn’t give up on living.
